Micropropagated banana plantlets are now well accepted by banana growers for the following reasons:
Production of clean or disease-free planting materials
High rate in multiplication
Small amount of space required to multiply large number of plants
Exhibit more vigorous and uniform growth
Shorter plant to harvest period
Produces quality and bigger fruits
Increase annual yield
Result of BPI research on Farm Trial of In-vitro derived planting materials compared to those coming from sucker, 1991.
